Glasgow Rangers did their confidence the world of good, winning 3-0 at Ibrox with James Tavernier scoring twice.

James Tavernier has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that he was mad at himself at half-time during Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash with Aberdeen after allowing the away side get in twice during the first-half at Ibrox.

The Gers got back to winning ways as they bounced back from two defeats to beat the Dons 3-0 to move to within three points of their opponents in the top flight table.

It was Tavernier who gave Graeme Murty’s men the lead as he converted an early penalty for the home side, and he would go on to complete the scoring during the second-half as he tapped home from close range. But despite the brace, the right-back admitted that he was not entirely happy with his performance on the night, especially when he came in for the break.

“I was mad at myself coming into half-time,” he told Rangers’ official YouTube channel.

“I let them in twice. That was just lack of concentration. I had to address that second-half and I thought I did. We obviously kept the ball out the box and I thought we played well in their half. We broke them down when we needed to and we obviously won.”

It will be pleasing for Rangers that Tavernier is not entirely happy with his performance. As a defender, it would probably be easy to look at two goals, a clean sheet and an emphatic win and be content with the night’s work.

However, the right-back clearly has the determination to improve even further, and Murty will be hoping that this is the start of a brilliant run of form from the defender as he looks to keep making a positive impact at both ends of the pitch in the coming games.
