Everton attacking midfielder James Rodriguez has raved about his teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin on BT Sport.

Rodriguez, who can also operate as a winger and joined Everton from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the summer of 2020, has said that Calvert-Lewin is always hungry for goals and is looking to find the back of the net at all times.

The Colombia international hopes that the 23-year-old scores 30 to 40 goals this season, and has stated that the England international striker is very ambitious.

Rodriguez said about Calvert-Lewin on BT Sport: “He’s a player always willing to score, he’s hungry to score goals. All great strikers are always looking for opportunities to score. I think he’s the same.

“He’s also a very young player, but still, he seems to be so ambitious. He’s hungry to score. I hope this year he’ll score 30-40 goals. This would definitely help the team achieve great things and get points.”

In form

Calvert-Lewin has been superb for Everton so far this season and has established himself as a key figure in manager Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old has scored eight goals in seven Premier League matches for the Toffees this campaign.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the young striker made 30 starts and six substitute appearances in the league for the Merseyside outfit, scoring 13 goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.

Everton are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and the English striker will play an important role in that quest.
