James Perch has commended Queens Park Rangers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s attention to detail in an interview with Get West London.
Hasselbaink made a slow start at QPR, with wins proving hard to come by over his first few fixtures in charge at Loftus Road.
However, Rangers seem to have begun to adapt to Hasselbaink’s methods in recent weeks, and there have been plenty of signs of encouragement.
The R’s have managed to win their last three home matches on the bounce, without letting in a goal, and they have climbed into the top half of the Championship table.
One of the reasons behind their impressive run of form has been the performances of Perch.
The former Newcastle United man has been stationed in an unfamiliar left-back role, and Perch admits that Hasselbaink has shown great foresight to realise that he could cover for Paul Koncheskey’s absence.
“He must have done his research to find out I can play there. Paul Konchesky has been unlucky in that he’s got injured,” the experienced defender said.
“He’s a passionate man and he’ll do his homework. He’s very thorough in what he does. We’re looking to finish the season on a high and we’ll see where that takes us.”
QPR’s strong run of form has raised hopes that the London club could make a late surge for the play offs.
At the moment the R’s are nine points back from the top six, with their next match coming against Preston North End at the weekend.
