Speaking on the Red Agenda Podcast, Liverpool journalist James Pearce has outlined what Jurgen Klopp has been telling his players amid the Reds’ poor run of form.

Liverpool haven’t had the best start to 2021 as we all know, but it seems as though Klopp isn’t panicking, as Pearce says he’s told the players he won’t be changing his tactics.

Indeed, it seems as though Klopp isn’t about to make wholesale changes at Liverpool, instead he just wants to improve the current style.

“I think that’s where there’s certainly parallels between where he is now compared to the way he was at Dortmund, he’s not suddenly going to go down a plan B route, it’s all about making plan A better,” Pearce said.

“That is certainly the message he is coming out wth publicly and privately with the players at the moment, because you know, he believes in his principles and his style and the results speak volumes for it with the amazing success that Liverpool have had in the past few years.”

It’s great to see that Klopp is going to stick to his guns, after all, it’s this style that has brought Liverpool so much success over the past few years.

However, we can’t help but feel the Liverpool boss needs to adjust his tactics with the current injury crisis in mind.

It’s all well and good playing in such a way when you have Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez at the back to clean up any danger, but when you regularly have midfielders playing at centre-back it may be worthwhile taking a more conservative approach.

Of course, Klopp knows his squad and their ability more than we do, so we’ve got to have faith that he’s making the right decision here.
