Writing in his Q&A session on The Athletic, James Pearce has shared what he knows about Liverpool’s links to Leeds United winger Raphinha.
Speculation has been rife this week about the Brazilian making a move to Anfield in the summer, but Pearce says that it may not be anything more than just speculation, claiming that he’s not aware of there being anything in it.
“Not aware of anything in that speculation currently. The summer is a long way off and transfer plans will be influenced by what happens in the coming months,” Pearce wrote.
Pearce is one of the most well-connected journalists covering the ANfield outfit, so if he hasn’t heard anything concrete about this rumour, it’s safe to assume there’s nothing advanced yet.
It had been reported this week that Raphinha is set to join Liverpool in the summer, but it seems as though any deal is still a long way off yet.
Leeds fans can breathe a sigh of relief for now, while Reds supporters will be keen to hear a more positive update in the near future.
Raphinha is a supremely talented player, so it’s not surprising to see him being linked with a club the stature of Liverpool, but it seems as though these recent reports may be slightly pre-emptive.
This looks as though it could be a rumour that rumbles on throughout the summer window.
