Speaking on The Red Agenda Podcast, James Pearce has claimed that Liverpool are big fans of Brighton centre-back Ben White.

The Reds have been linked with a move for White in recent weeks, so it is interesting to hear that Pearce says he has his admirers at Anfield.

However, Pearce has also cast doubt over the idea of Liverpool signing the centre-back this month, claimng that Brighton’s asking price would be over £40 million, while also saying that the Seagulls wouldn’t be keen to lose one of their better players.

“Ben White at Brighton, he’s certainly got his admirers at Liverpool, but you know, again, we’re talking about Leeds having a £30 million bid rejected for him last summer. You’re probably talking about £40-45 million just to get Brighton to talk.

“And with the battle they’re in for Premier League survival, they’re not going to be wanting to lose one of their best players.”

It’s no surprise to hear that Liverpool are big fans of White, after all, he is a fantastic young footballer.

He broke through at Leeds last season and looked a class above everyone in the Championship, and he’s also held his own this season in the Premier League.

One man who is clearly a big fan of White is Jamie Carragher, who tipped him for a future England call up, while also describing him as a really good player.

“I think he’s really good. If he gets anywhere close to the performances he gave for Leeds this season in the Premier League for Brighton then I think he will be knocking on England’s door, I really do,” Carragher said.

White doesn’t look as though he’s on his way to Anfield this month, but with Liverpool reportedly big fans of the centre-back, it may be worth keeping an eye on a potential move in the summer.
