Should Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers consider James Morrison?

It seems like Rangers might be close to signing Steven Davis.
Sky Sports claimed on Monday that Southampton were willing to release him and that the veteran midfielder was willing to accept a wage cut to re-sign for Rangers.
In the short term, it’s a brilliant addition if it happens, but the reality is that Davis turned 34 on New Year’s Day and it remains to be seen how long he can be an asset for the Gers.
With that in mind, you wonder if Steven Gerrard should sign another midfielder – and if James Morrison is available, the Ibrox boss should certainly consider him.
The West Bromwich Albion star is out of contract in June, meaning that a cut-price deal may be on the cards.
Not only that, but the Baggies may not need Morrison beyond January amid speculation from The Daily Mail that West Brom have asked about Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama.
Such a transfer may potentially affect Morrison negatively and it’s certainly worth asking the question.
And not only because he’s a very talented midfielder and one who would be a big hit in Glasgow after previously admitting his affection for the Premiership side in 2011 [The Express], but because Rangers’ list of midfielders isn’t as impressive as it looked on paper back in August.
Jordan Rossiter hasn’t done it, despite being fit. Ovie Ejaria has returned to Liverpool. Graham Dorrans can’t stay fit, and Lassana Coulibaly blows hot and cold.
There is definitely room for Morrison at Ibrox and considering he’s two years younger than Davis, it’s a bit more logical in the long term.
