James Morrison shares what he told West Brom teammate Hal Robson-Kanu before 4-1 win

West Bromwich Albion were inspired as they claimed a 4-1 victory against the Championship high-flyers on Saturday.

In comments reported by The Telegraph, James Morrison has suggested that he told Hal Robson-Kanu ahead of West Brom’s clash with Leeds that he expected the Welshman to score after watching the forward in training in the build-up to the game.

Robson-Kanu scored his first goal since August to break the deadlock at The Hawthorns. It was an important strike for the 29-year-old and for Darren Moore’s men after a string of underwhelming results.

And it proved to be the catalyst for a remarkable second-half display that led to West Brom scoring four times in 32 minutes on their way to a 4-1 win that takes the Baggies back into the play-off places.

And while some West Brom fans may not have expected Robson-Kanu to be the player who sparked their superb performance, Morrison insisted that he was not at all shocked to see the forward make an impact.

“There have been a few who have been waiting patiently and when you get your chance you’ve got to take it and Hal was the master of that,” he said, as reported by The Telegraph.

“I said to him ‘You’ll get a goal tonight’ just based on how he has trained this week.”

After four games without a win, the victory over Leeds should be exactly what the Baggies need heading into the international break.

It was a huge statement from Moore’s men and it would be no surprise if Saturday’s game is looked back upon at the end of the season as the performance that changed West Brom’s campaign and sparked their promotion push into real life.
