Liverpool ace wins Puskas Award.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool looks on during the Premier League match between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on May 6, 2018 in London, England.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was the surprise winner of this year’s Puskas Award.

His goal against Everton in the Premier League was voted as the best goal scored in the world from last season, a shock result.

The award had been expected to be awarded to Gareth Bale for his overhead kick in the Champions League final against Liverpool, or Cristiano Ronaldo’s spectacular effort against Juventus.

Milner’s Liverpool teammate James Milner was impressed, and made a joke of it.

He suggested the goal was just Salah’s seventh best goal he scored last season.

Many were unimpressed with the decision to hand the award to Salah.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason expressed his dismay at the decision, saying he had lost faith in the awards.

The goal was just one of 44 club goals Salah scored in 52 games for Liverpool in 2017/18.
