Liverpool midfielder James Milner has commented on his future.

Liverpool ace James Milner has told the Daily Mail that he hasn’t heard anything about a new deal with the club since last year.
The Reds saw Milner feature prominently again last season, notching five goals and four assists in 31 Premier League games.
Milner also made 12 Champions League appearances as Liverpool ran out winners, with the 33-year-old continuing to play an important role under Jurgen Klopp.
Milner will likely feature on a regular basis again this coming season, but he now has less than a year left on his contract at Anfield.
The versatile veteran has now opened up on his situation, noting that he hasn’t heard anything from the club since last year, but hopes that he can impress enough to earn a new deal.
“Last year we spoke to the club and asked them if they wanted to do something and they said not,” said Milner. “We haven’t heard anything since, so that’s where we are at. There are three things to it: availability, fitness and performance level. Hopefully I am delivering all three,” he added.

The Daily Mail’s report notes that a return to hometown and boyhood club Leeds was taken off the table when they missed out on promotion back to the Premier League.
Leeds will surely keep tabs on Milner’s situation, in the hope of bringing him back to Elland Road when his contract ends next summer, but it would surely depend on Premier League football once again.
It would be sad to see Milner either miss out on a return to Leeds altogether, or only have the chance when he’s way past his best. Last summer may be the last chance for Milner to make a meaningful return to Leeds, and the longer Liverpool don’t make an offer to keep him, the more likely that return becomes.
