Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:02pm, October 3, 2021) that Liverpool defender James Milner should have been sent off for his challenge on Manchester City star Bernardo Silva at Anfield tonight.
What’s the story?
Liverpool have played out a 2-2 draw with City at Anfield in the Premier League this evening.
It was a hugely entertaining match, and in the end, both teams will be pleased with the point.
However, there was one controversial moment in the second half.
In the 73rd minute, Milner brought down Silva.
The Liverpool right-back was already on a yellow card.
City manager Pep Guardiola was furious on the touchline that Milner was not shown a second yellow card and sent off.

Gery Neville’s verdict
Former Manchester United defender Neville was on co-commentary duty for the match for Sky Sports.
The Englishman believes that Milner was lucky not to receive a second yellow card and sent off.
Milner was actually substituted by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp just minutes later.
Neville said: “Very, very lucky to stay on the pitch. And he (Guardiola) is going man, still going mad.”

What if…?
It was a controversial decision, and City fans will argue that their team could have won the match had Milner been sent off.
After all, Liverpool would have been down to 10 men, and City would have taken advantage of their numerical advantage.
