Liverpool’s James Milner and Brazil legend Roberto Carlos reacted on their Instagrams to Sergio Aguero retiring from football.

On Wednesday morning, from an emotional press conference in Barcelona, Aguero shared to his supporters that he will be hanging up his boots for ‘health’ reasons.

This sparked an emotional reaction from the footballing world, with Milner labelling the player ‘one of the all-time greats’.

Whilst the iconic left-back, Carlos, added on his IG story that he is thankful for ‘everything you did for football’.

This was the former Real Madrid star’s message in full to Aguero: “Friend life that goes on. Thank you very much for everything you did for football. Good luck always in your life.”

Aguero produced some iconic moments during his time on the field and one of the most memorable in English football history.

That stoppage-time winner to help Manchester City snatch the Premier League title from the grasp of their neighbours is a moment that will be etched in the memory of all in decades to come.

Then there are the records he broke, from being the highest overseason goalscorer in English top-flight history, to having the best goals to minutes ratio during the Premier League era.

Milner would have been part of those moments when he was wearing the colours of Manchester City, as well as facing up against him at Liverpool.

The versatile Liverpool player has played with some of the greats of the game, from when he started as a young teenager at Leeds to his current success at Anfield.

And perhaps, if he was asked, then someone like Aguero would make his all-time XI, alongside someone like Mo Salah on the right.

That would be some deadly attacking duo and two of the best goalscorers to have graced the game during the past ten years.
