Owen Beck has completed a season-long loan move to Portuguese side Famalicao from Liverpool after making his Reds debut last season – prompting James Milner, Rhys Williams and plenty of other Red stars to react.
Beck, 19, enjoyed a brilliant 2021-22 season. Breaking into the senior Liverpool side on two occasions, the Wales Under-21 star also firmly established himself as first choice in the club’s Under-23 outfit, playing 26 times.

The left-back also found himself on the bench for three Premier League games – albeit as an unused substitute. His taste of first-team game time, though, has tempted him to go out on loan. He has made a surprising move.
Instead of joining a League One, or a Championship club in England, Beck has made the surprise move to move to Portugal with Familicao. The Portuguese outfit finished eighth in Liga NOS last season. Beck posted on Instagram.
Milner and Williams react: Beck has completed loan move from Liverpool
Ultimately, Beck had to go out on loan. Andy Robertson is easily first choice, and Konstantinos Tsimikas is more than happy playing back-up on the left side of the defence. Beck is some way down the pecking order.
Even if Robertson and Tsimikas are unavailable, it is unlikely Beck would start. New signing Calvin Ramsay can play on the left, while veteran Milner has remained at the club. So, Beck had to go out on loan and it is a good move for him.
Both Milner and Williams were among those to react on Instagram, as did Tyler Morton and other Liverpool players. He is another Liverpool defender to leave this week, after Neco Williams moved to Nottingham Forest.
