Michael Johnston played well for Neil Lennon’s Celtic against AIK.

James McFadden has spoken highly of Celtic winger Michael Johnston on BBC Sport.
The former Scotland international striker was impressed with the performance of Johnston for Celtic during the first leg of their Europa League playoff tie against AIK at Celtic Park on Thursday evening.
The 20-year-old winger took everything in his stride, did not get troubled by the challenges he faced, was quick on the ball, made some intelligent passes, and showed some really good touches.
McFadden was following the match, and he was hugely impressed with Johnston, not just for his performance for Celtic against AIK, but how he has changed his physique and developed himself.
McFadden told BBC Sport about Johnston: “They don’t know what to do with him – he’s inside, he’s outside, he’s on the touchline here.
“As soon as he’s by the defender his first thought in his mind is to get across him, make him either let you go or foul you. His running has been superb tonight.”
McFadden added: “Mikey Johnston has always had the ability to get on the ball, to eliminate players, to be exciting. He’s got great little body movements, there’s no way of defenders knowing which way he’s going.
“What he has done is bulked himself up. It just takes time for kids to grow, and that’s why he’s probably looked at Christie.”

Rising star
Johnston is a very good and promising young winger who has progressed well in recent times, and there is no surprise to see him start important matches such as the one against AIK.
The winger is only 20 years of age, and he has time on his hands to develop and progress further, and with regular first-team football, he will do just that.
