Celtic beat Kilmarnock during their Scottish Premiership encounter on Sunday.
Sky Sports pundit James McFadden was fuming at the alleged coin-throwing incident during Kilmarnock’s home clash against Celtic at Rugby Park on Sunday.
During the halftime interval, Sky Sports, who were broadcasting the Scottish Premiership match, showed a coin allegedly being thrown from the crowd at Killie striker Kris Boyd as he was warming up.
The experienced player didn’t make much of the incident. Instead, he carried on in his ways as Celtic recorded a win against Steve Clarke’s side.
Nonetheless, former Premiership striker McFadden wasn’t too impressed in the incident that took place as he made his feelings known.
“It unacceptable,” McFadden told Sky Sports Football at half-time on 17/02/2019. “Kris has got his opinions, but if you want to give him abuse then he can take it, he is a grown man. He likes to give it out and he can take it.
“But to throw coins, there is no place for it. This season the product on the pitch has been absolutely brilliant for Scottish football & some of the behaviour off the field by the minority of fans is trying to derail & spoil that. Absolutely no place for it. It’s disgusting.”
Boyd was an unused substitute during the game, with Clarke being forced to bring on centre-back Alex Bruce late in the second half when referee Bobby Madden showed Kirk Broadfoot a straight red.
The defender was given his marching orders for a high challenge on Bhoys midfielder Scott Brown, with the former Scotland international being caught high on the ankle.
Nonetheless, during the game captain, Brown scored with minutes left on the clock following a scramble in the penalty area, which resulted in him securing a much-needed three points for his side.
As a result of that win, Rodgers side are now eight points ahead of second-placed Rangers in the table, who were held to a goalless draw against St Johnstone on Saturday.
