Rangers completed the signing of Greg Docherty at Ibrox on Thursday.

Motherwell icon James McFadden has told William Hill’s ‘Open Goal’ that he believes Greg Docherty will be a good signing for Rangers after he completed a move to Ibrox from Hamilton.
Boyhood Rangers fan Docherty, 21, put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal at Ibrox for a fee the Scotsman claim is worth £675,000, after shining in the first half of the season for Martin Canning’s side.
During 21 Scottish Premiership appearances, Docherty has scored three goals but it his creativity from midfield that has really caught the eye – laying on six assists in the red and white of Hamilton.
Now, Graeme Murty will be looking for the Gers’ fifth January signing to continue his 2017-18 form with Rangers and McFadden believes that signing Scottish players will only boost Rangers, comparing him to Celtic recruit Lewis Morgan.
“I think it is a good signing,” McFadden said. “It is good to see them signing Scottish players. Even Celtic when they signed Lewis Morgan. Docherty has been a stand out for Hamilton for the last three and a half years.
“It’s a good signing for them.”

Rangers have already lured Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings on loan to Ibrox, but Docherty is the first new face around Ibrox to have signed on a permanent deal.
The Gers returned to action on Wednesday night following the winter break with a perfect start, beating second-placed Aberdeen by two goals to nil thanks to strikes from Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier.
Focus now switches to Sunday afternoon, as they take on Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium and will be hoping Old Firm rivals Celtic slip up against Neil Lennon’s Hibernian. The gap between first and second currently stands at 11 points.
