The Irishman has been linked with a move away from Everton for some time.
Everton picked up an impressive win in the Premier League today, thrashing Bournemouth 6-3 at Goodison Park.
It was a brilliant performance from Romelu Lukaku that will gain most of the post-match attention. He scored four goals in the game and that is hard to ignore.
But one man who deserves a special mention is James McCarthy.
Everton’s James McCarthy scores their second goal
For a while it looked like he was on his way out of Goodison Park.
He was not playing regularly and his performances have not been up to scratch.
But he started the game this afternoon and put in a great display, scoring one and setting up another. He looked like the old McCarthy yet again, the one who was being linked with big money moves to the Premier League’s elite two seasons ago and was dominating Everton’s midfield.

He appears to be relishing in Idrissa Gana Gueye’s recent absence and rumours of moves to Celtic, Crystal Palace or Newcastle United can hopefully be forgotten.
When McCarthy is on his game, Everton have a fantastic option on their hands.
Today he showed that.
