Everton midfielder James McCarthy suffered a double leg break earlier this season.

Everton midfielder James McCarthy has delivered an upbeat injury update on Instagram as he continues his recovery from a double leg break suffered in January.
The 27-year-old broke both his tibia and fibula in a tangle with West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon, in what was an unfortunate injury after only just recovering from a long-term hamstring problem.

The Republic of Ireland international is yet to put a timescale on his injury, but is certain to be ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery to correct the problem.
Posting on Instagram, the former Wigan and Hamilton midfielder told Everton fans that he is “on the road to recovery” though, in what will come as a boost to fans ahead of the 2018-19 season.
The Glasgow-born midfielder had managed just six appearances in all competitions this season before suffering the injury, and has since been replaced by the likes of Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies and Wayne Rooney in central midfield.
It remains to be seen whether McCarthy’s long-term future remains at Goodison Park as his injury-prone reputation worsens, with two years remaining on a contract reportedly worth £50,000 a week.
