Everton central midfielder James McCarthy could make his long-awaited comeback after the international break against Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international has been on the sidelines since January 2018 when he suffered a double leg break, according to The Mirror.
As reported on Everton’s official website, the former Hamilton Academical star – who joined the Toffees from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2013 for a transfer fee reported by The Belfast Telegraph to be worth £13 million – featured in the Merseyside outfit’s behind-closed-doors training game on Thursday at USM Finch Farm.
McCarthy – who earns £50,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – played for the entire 60 minutes and is in line to feature against Palace at Goodison Park in the Premier League after the international break.
Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and Beni Baningime also played in the match on Thursday and are fit for the match against the Eagles, which will certainly give the Toffees a huge boost in their quest to pick up all three points from the encounter.
