James Maddison joining a club like Tottenham Hotspur was a transfer long in the making.
The club was craving for a player like that for a number of years, then Daniel Levy finally made the move in the summer and filled the playmaker void.
Yes, it’s a crying shame that Tottenham had to part ways with Harry Kane in the summer because it would have been some attack Ange Postecoglou could have worked with.
Imagine Maddison, Kane and Son Heung-min playing in this Postecoglou system, it would be beyond crazy and something supporters will now never get to see.
Whilst that won’t happen, what the Spurs faithful have been able to witness is Maddison and Son working their magic together.
The South Korean star joined the ‘400 club’ on Tuesday night when Spurs recorded a 1-1 draw at West Ham United.
That’s a great achievement for the player, added to the fact that he recently equalled Cliff Jones’ goalscoring record (159) for the club.
But when Son raised his bat for appearance number 400, Maddison lauded his teammate via his Instagram story, including how he loves sharing the pitch with him.
Son Heung-min’s 400 appearances for Tottenham
“400 up,” wrote Maddison. “Pleasure to share the pitch with you and call you my friend. Love you, brother.”

Son Heung-min’s contract
The 31-year-old’s current deal expires in 2021 and fans will be hoping their club captain signs on the dotted line again.
There isn’t any reason why Son wouldn’t, especially given that he was made the captain in the summer following the exit of Hugo Lloris.
What also needs to be noted is that this next contract deal for the £18 million signing is probably going to be his last major contract deal.
From the player’s perspective, you are just hoping it all ends with a trophy because his goalscoring record deserves it.
