James Maddison has stated that Arsenal target, Eden Hazard, was ‘silly good’ during his days at Chelsea.

The Leicester City playmaker posted the comments on his Instagram story on Thursday morning and was replying to Chelsea’s official social media account that posted a compilation of his goals in their colours.

During his days at Chelsea, Hazard was a two-time Premier League winner and he wowed the crowd with his ball-carrying ability, close control and ability to make special things happen.

That opened the path for him to move to Spain and join Real Madrid for a fee close to £150 million in 2019 (BBC Sport).

But, fast forward to today, and the likes of Arsenal are seemingly looking at signing the 31-year-old because it has gone very wrong for him at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Perhaps, like a certain Philippe Coutinho, returning to where he worked his magic the best, is what he should do next because his days at Madrid are just becoming more of a nightmare.

‘This guy was just silly good’, Leicester’s Maddison is certainly still a fan of the Arsenal target, as he posted on his IG, but would he suit Mikel Arteta’s side?

With the ball, he could certainly fit into their system out on the left channel, but not without the ball because he doesn’t have that aggression or intelligence needed when it comes to pressing.

Plus, given that he recently turned 31 and will probably be on stupid wages, he’s not exactly the profile of player Arsenal have been pushing for in recent times.

Yes, if the Gunners secure Champions League football, then ready-made players might need to be brought in.

But, it’s probably too much of a risk taking a punt on a player that has struggled for form and consistency since moving to La Liga.

Hazard has only managed six goals and ten assists from 65 games, Gabriel Martinelli, on the other hand, has scored 17 and supplied ten from his 74 matches at the Emirates.

Arteta is probably better off nurturing young talents like Martinelli, rather than pushing for a very risky signing in Hazard given where his career is at.
