Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are reportedly going head-to-head over Norwich City’s James Maddison.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are leading the race to sign Norwich City star James Maddison, who is valued at around £25 million by the Championship club.
Beating their London rivals to a player would always represent a big victory for Tottenham, but would pipping the Blues to Maddison be even sweeter after what happened last summer?
Spurs were heavily linked with then-Everton star Ross Barkley for most of last summer’s transfer window, only for the England star to effectively choose Chelsea. He made a sensational u-turn on his deadline-day switch to Stamford Bridge, but ultimately wound up joining Antonio Conte’s side in January.
Having tracked Barkley for so long, watching the 24-year-old join Chelsea will have undoubtedly hurt Tottenham, but signing the Norwich star, who plays in the same position, might go some way to mending those wounds.

At 21, Maddison, according to The Mirror, is one of the most exciting non-Premier League prospects in the English Football League and with a manager like Mauricio Pochettino working with him every day, there is no telling how brilliant he could be in the future.
Missing Barkley hasn’t been that detrimental, given his slow start to life under Conte, but signing Maddison and then turning him into a world beater would be the perfect revenge for the Lilywhites.
