The Celtic man delayed his Scotland retirement recently.

James Forrest has admitted to The Glasgow Evening Times that he was pleasantly surprised to see Celtic team-mate Scott Brown postpone Scotland retirement.

The 31-year-old midfielder announced back in August that he would not be playing a role in his country’s upcoming World Cup 2018 qualification campaign.

But the Celtic captain has come out of retirement and could face England at Wembley on Friday.

Defeat would make it ever so hard for Gordon Strachan’s side to reach Russia in two years, but at least the Hoops star gives them a much better chance of winning.

Brown has been in superb form for Celtic so far this season, and his Bhoys team-mate Forrest says he and his Scotland team-mates are “buzzing” over his imminent return to the international fold.

“It was a surprise but you know what he’s like. He’s been top drawer with Celtic this season and I think he is feeling really good,” he told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“I’ve not spoken to him too much about it but he said he was coming back. I think all the boys are buzzing he’s back.”

Scotland’s campaign has struggled following a very tough start. They sit fourth in Group F, three points behind top-of-the-table England and only one behind Lithuania in second, but they need to close that gap this weekend.
