Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 at Parkead on Sunday afternoon.

Neil Lennon, Interim manager of Celtic looks on ahead of the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on March 31, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic winger James Forrest has told The Scottish Sun that Neil Lennon raved about Odsonne Edouard’s display against Rangers after the final whistle.

The Bhoys managed to pick up yet another win over Rangers on Sunday, and it was Forrest who scored the dramatic late winner in a 2-1 victory.

It was a truly action-packed game, from Edouard’s superb solo opener to Alfredo Morelos picking up a first half red card for Rangers, to Ryan Kent hauling Rangers back into the game and then punching Scott Brown without punishment.

Rangers looked strong with 10 men, but were caught out as James Tavernier’s mistake sparked a Celtic counter, and Forrest finished it off to all but hand Celtic the Scottish Premiership title.

Forrest will claim the plaudits for the winner, but he was teed up perfectly by striker Edouard, who again destroyed Rangers in a superb performance.

The French attacker has received some criticism of late, not necessarily from Celtic fans, but more from pundits and even boss Lennon, who wasn’t entirely impressed with his last showing against Dundee – despite him scoring the winner.

Edouard was pretty much unplayable against Rangers on Sunday though, and Forrest has now hailed him whilst sharing what Lennon told the Celtic squad about Edouard’s display.

Forrest has revealed that Lennon told Bhoys players that Edouard’s performance was ‘one of the best’ he’s seen in an Old Firm game, summing up just how impressive he really was as a centre forward, goalscorer and creator.

“Odsonne scored the first goal and then set up mine. He has scored in a few of these games now,” said Forrest. “The manager said afterwards it was one of the best Old Firm performances he’s seen. He was holding the ball up and contributed really well.”

“You need your striker to be on top in games like this and he was tremendous for 90 minutes. You could see last season when he came in that he is so chilled. Nothing fazes him. Once he gets the ball at his feet he can bully defenders and it was a great performance from him. For my goal, Callum McGregor did really well to find Odsonne and then it was a great pass,” he added.
