James Forrest looks set to extend his contract with Celtic.

James Forrest of Celtic arrives for the UEFA Europa League Play Off First Leg match between Celtic and AIK at Celtic Park on August 22, 2019 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

James Forrest has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he’s about to sign a new contract with Celtic.

The Scotland winger has arguably been the Hoops’ best and most consistent performer during the past three years, scoring 17 goals across all competitions last term to win Player of the Season.

Forrest has another three years to run on his current Celtic contract, but there was speculation about his future this past summer.

And it looks like the Bhoys are moving to tie him down for the long term, with the 28-year-old reiterating to The Scottish Sun that he only wants to be at Parkhead.

He said: “I think it’s near enough done. Hopefully it’ll be really soon since everything is basically agreed. I would like to get it done soon and just focus on playing. I’ve always stated that I want to be here at Celtic and the club have been the same.”

This will be music to the ears of Celtic fans.

When Brendan Rodgers left Glasgow for Leicester City in February, there were rumours that the Northern Irishman would try and take Forrest with him to The King Power.

But when this extension goes through, it effectively confirms that Forrest will be a Hoop for another few years yet and, given his age, it might indicate that he’ll be finishing his career at Paradise.
