Premier League side Arsenal are reportedly keen on the services of Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.
James Forrest has interestingly claimed that Kieran Tierney being linked with other clubs is a ‘big boost for him’, but he insisted that ‘everyone’ at Celtic will want him to stay.
The Guardian recently claimed that interested club Arsenal are hoping that a bid of £18 million will prize the left-back away from Scotland this summer despite a £25 million price tag being slapped on him.
At 22-years-old, and playing in a role that is becoming more and more important in the modern game, Tierney would be a brilliant purchase for whoever acquires his service.
Speaking to Sky Sports News (25/06/2019 at 7:50 pm), Tierney’s club teammate, Forrest saw the positives to him being linked away from the club, but he is hoping he’ll stay.
“It’s not the first season he has been linked with other clubs,” Forrest told Sky Sports News. “He has dealt with it over the years really well and it’s a real positivity.
“It’s a good boost for him getting linked to top clubs, but as I said these last couple of years he’s actually been tremendous. You want to keep your best players and everyone at the club will want him to stay.”
Whether Tierney ends up at the Emirates Stadium next season or he continues to ply his trade at Parkhead, either way, he’ll provide great quality to either team.
Arsenal are in need of some serious defensive quality this summer, and bringing Tierney to North London would be a great start for Unai Emery.
But equally, Neil Lennon will want to keep hold of his star player as the Scottish Premiership champions chase nine-in-a-row.
