The Celtic winger wants to commit his future to the club sooner rather than later.
The winger penned his latest deal less than a year ago, in September 2018, but has emerged as an even more important player to the team in the time since.
Manager Neil Lennon told The Herald last month that he was keen on signing up the 28-year-old on new terms and it appears that’s what Forrest’s aims are too.
He is planning to play for his boyhood side for as long as possible and wants to be a one-club man at Celtic Park.
Asked about potentially signing a new deal, as quoted by The Scottish Sun, Forrest said: “The manager spoke about it in the press which was really good. You feel good when the staff at the club want you to stay.
“I would love to get it done soon and just concentrate on football. Nowadays you don’t get many one-club players but there’s not many clubs like Celtic.
“The fan-base and everything about the club is incredible. I’ve really seen that over the last few years, and I’d love to stay a part of that for as long as I can.”
Considering his recent contributions, the Hoops would do well to secure Forrest’s future when he is so keen on committing.
The Scotland international scored an excellent 18 goals in all competitions last season, also creating 21 assists.
Nobody else in the Celtic squad directly contributed to goals more. He was lethal in and around the box and a big part of why they celebrated a ‘treble treble’ of trophies.
Having made 352 appearances for the club in total, he’s one of the big success stories of the Celtic academy over the past couple of decades.
His presence in the squad is not just effective on the pitch but also a beacon for other young players coming through at Lennoxtown.
Likely to be just as important again this season, anything the club can do to keep him settled and happy will be worth it.
