Celtic icon Lennon has guided Hibernian into fourth, just three points behind second.
Celtic winger James Forrest has told the club’s official website that Hibernian manager Neil Lennon is doing an excellent job at Easter Road, after Hibs beat the Hoops 2-1 on Saturday.
Forrest, 26, played 70 minutes of Celtic’s 2-1 loss to Hibs as Neil Lennon’s side kept pace with Aberdeen and Rangers, who beat Kilmarnock and Hearts respectively.
Hibs only gained promotion to the Scottish Premiership last season and although they lost players like Jason Cummings and Kris Commons, they have still managed to shine back in the top tier of Scottish football.
Forrest believes much of that is down to the work of his former manager Lennon, who has made Hibs a fearsome outfit when it comes to travelling to Easter Road with 17 wins from 34 league games this term.
“Hibs have given us a hard game every time we have played them this season. We have never run away with it. Even in the League Cup semi-final, it was tight,” Forrest said about Lennon’s Hibernian.
“They have been very good this season and credit to them in their first season back up. It’s always been very close games and they were up for it right from the start. Hibs played well and we didn’t do as well as we can. We need to give credit to them and just look forward to next week.”
Forrest has been in immense form for Celtic this season, scoring 16 goals from the right flank and is expected to start against Old Firm rivals Rangers on Sunday in the final derby of the season.
The pocket-sized winger’s future at Celtic remains a long-term doubt, with only season remaining on his current deal which the Daily Star claim is worth £14,000 a week.
