Dedryck Boyata has developed into an important player for Celtic.
Celtic winger James Forrest has praised the influence of powerhouse Dedryck Boyata on the rest of his teammates.
Boyata, 27, is back in favour at Parkhead after doubts around his future and is a mainstay in the Bhoys defence.
The Belgian centre-back has played every minute of the last five games for Brendan Rodgers’ side, where they have gone that entire time without conceding a goal.
He is a real leader in the backline and Forrest has revealed he breathes confidence into his defensive teammates when he plays.
“Dedryck’s come in and he’s been tremendous. He’s really solid at the back and that gives everyone confidence with him at the back,” Forrest said, as quoted by the club’s official webstie.
Boyata is a no-nonsense defender that has become a key player under Rodgers and his ability to play out from the back is a vital part of his game.
His main partner at centre-back has been upcoming talent Kristoffer Ajer so far this campaign, but loan signing Filip Benkovic is another player in contention.
He has the experience with Belgium of playing alongside truly world-class players and it’s easy to see how he has a big presence in the Celtic team.
The Scottish giants travel to Kilmarnock on Sunday for a league fixture and will be looking to bounce back from their last league outing, which was a draw away at St Mirren.
