James Forrest wants to remain at Celtic.

James Forrest of Celtic celebrates his goal (Celtics 1st)with Stuart Armstrong during the Betfred Cup Final at Hampden Park on November 26, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic winger James Forrest has told The Scottish Sun that he wants to play for the club for the rest of his career.

Forrest has been on the books of Celtic his entire professional club football career so far and has established himself as an important player for the Glasgow giants.

According to Transfermarkt.com, the Scotland international winger’s current contract with the Hoops runs out in the summer of 2019.

Forrest has stated that he wants to remain at Celtic for the rest of his career, but the 26-year-old has admitted that he needs to maintain the high standards or else he could find himself out.

James Forrest of Celtic reacts during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

“I just want to stay here as long as possible,” Forrest told The Scottish Sun. “Could I now be here for the rest of my career?

“In football you never know and Celtic are always looking to better the team. You need to be on it the whole time.

“If not then they will sign new players and you can be easily replaced. I’ve only known Celtic and I’d love to stay here as long as I can. If you get complacent, then it’s dangerous.”

James Forrest of Celtic is tackled by Andy Rose of Motherwell during the Betfred League Cup Final between Celtic and Motherwell at Hampden Park on November 26, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Forrest has not always been on top of his game, but the Scotsman has matured and developed under manager Brendan Rodgers.

Of course, there is no reason for the winger to leave the Hoops anytime soon, and perhaps he could even get a new contract soon.

As Forrest has correctly identified, he needs to maintain the high standards that Celtic demand and has to remain consistent in his performances.
