James Corden has stated on social networking site Twitter that it was a blatant dive from Manuel Lanzini that earned West Ham United an early penalty against Stoke City at the weekend.

Lanzini won a penalty in the 18th minute of the Premier League game between Stoke and West Ham at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Argentina international attacking midfielder went to ground following a challenge from Stoke defender Erik Pieters.

Manuel Lanzini of West Ham looks spread the play during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Arsenal at London Stadium on December 13, 2017 in London, England.

The referee awarded a spot kick to West Ham, and midfielder Mark Noble duly converted it to make it 1-0 to the London club.

The Hammers went on to win the match 3-0, but, as reported by Sky Sports, Lanzini has been charged by the Football Association for deceiving a match official and could be banned for two games.

Well-known English actor and comedian Corden is a West Ham fan, and he has stated on Twitter that it was a dive from Lanzini.

Corden has also apologised to the Stoke fans, but he is pleased that the Hammers managed to pick up all three points from the encounter.

Meanwhile, West Ham manager David Moyes has explained why he was annoyed with winger Marko Arnautovic at half time.

“I told him at half time, I was annoyed with him – he should have scored two but I also said if he could keep it going, he would score in the end and he did,” Moyes told Football.London.
