Aston Villa should look at signing James Collins, not Robert Huth.

According to The Leicester Mercury, Aston Villa want to sign Robert Huth on a free transfer, but the Championship club would be better off looking at James Collins, who is also without a club at the moment.
Due to Villa’s FFP situation, the Championship side need to sign free agents in the summer transfer window if possible, and one can understand why manager Steve Bruce (reportedly) wants Huth.
The 33-year-old former Chelsea and Leicester City centre-back is a very good and hugely experienced footballer who would be a decent replacement for John Terry at Villa Park.
However, Huth has had injury issues of late and, as reported by The Leicester Mercury, the defender last made a senior appearance in May 2017 and did not play at all last season due to injury problems.

Collins is a free agent as well, with the former Wales international central defender having been released by West Ham United at the end of last season.
The 34-year-old former Cardiff City centre-back was on the books of Villa from 2009 until 2012, and he is fit and can still do a good job in the Premier League.
Signing Huth would be a risk for Villa given his fitness concerns, and if the Villans are looking for a free agent central defender, then they should look at Collins instead.
