West Ham United defender James Collins has told club sponsor Betway Insider, as quoted by the Daily Mail, that Chelsea’s John Terry offered a night out to the Hammers players if they beat Tottenham.
The Hammers have struggled to make the London Stadium feel like home this season, and Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool again showed the problems that Slaven Bilic is having away from Upton Park.
It did seem that West Ham had turned a corner with a superb performance against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, picking up a vital 1-0 win.
Not only did Manuel Lanzini’s winning goal guarantee Premier League survival for the Hammers, but it also ended Tottenham’s challenge for the title, with Hammers fans conjuring a superb atmosphere throughout.
The Liverpool defeat is a setback, but West Ham must look to use the performance and atmosphere against Tottenham to kick on next season, and turn the London Stadium into a fortress.

Now, defender James Collins has revealed to Betway Insider, the club’s sponsors, that Chelsea defender John Terry texted both he and Mark Noble to offer the West Ham players a night out if they beat Spurs.
Chelsea knew a Spurs defeat would put the on the verge of winning the Premier League title, and Terry attempted to offer an incentive to the West Ham players to help the Blues get over the line.

Collins, as quoted by the Daily Mail, admitted it was nice to hear from Terry, but West Ham wanted to win the game regardless, noting that it was a ‘massive result’ to beat Spurs both for their own reasons and for impacting the title race.
“John Terry text me and Mark Noble saying, ‘If you boys beat Tottenham there’s a dinner or a night out on the Chelsea boys,’ so that was nice,” said Collins. “But we wanted to beat Tottenham anyway.”
“We’re lucky we did in the end looking at the result we got after that. It was a massive result, it put us safe and obviously to beat our closest rivals at home was massive,” he added.
