Aston Villa are still taking a look at defender James Collins.

Aston Villa’s defensive problems have left the club to consider free agents – and James Collins is the one currently being considered.
Villa brought back Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Manchester United, but failed to land a big signing to replace John Terry, whilst Christopher Samba also left over the summer.
Robert Huth and Steven Caulker were two names suggested as free agent targets, but Steve Bruce brought in James Collins for a trial in an attempt to find some defensive help.
Bruce’s sacking appeared to leave Collins in no man’s land, but replacement Dean Smith has kept the Welshman around in order to have a close look at him ahead of a potential deal.
The 35-year-old centre back has been out of the game since leaving West Ham at the end of last season, and a return to Villa may be on the cards.

Collins joined Villa from West Ham in 2009, making more than 100 appearances for the club before returning to East London in 2012.
Collins could now head back to Villa again, and he reunited with former teammate Stiliyan Petrov at the club’s training ground today, posting a photo on Instagram of the duo – and Villa fans replied in the comments by begging him to re-sign for the club imminently.
