Aston Villa leaked five goals at home to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

Aston Villa played out a bizarre 5-5 draw with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, and whilst few at Villa Park will have enjoyed such an eventful game, James Collins may have viewed it as a big opportunity.
Villa conceded three goals in the first half and another two after the break, with ex-Villa hitman Lewis Grabban scoring twice and Joe Lolley grabbing another.
Villa were all at sea at the back, and boss Dean Smith won’t be happy with his back line. The problem is that he doesn’t exactly have many other options in the heart of defence behind Axel Tuanzebe and James Chester right now.
Steve Bruce failed to bring in a defender in August, and Smith knows of the struggles there, meaning free agent Collins has been training with the club for some time as he bids to earn a deal.
The Welsh centre back, 35, has already spend three years with Villa between 2009 and 2012, and is attempting to earn a return to the club having been released by West Ham over the summer.

Villa’s defensive woes against Forest have surely boosted Collins’ chances of earning a deal, as Smith needs help however he can get it – and a proven performer already training with the club in Collins would tick all the boxes.
Smith has even told the Birmingham Mail today that a decision is likely to be made in the coming days – and it would be little surprise to see Collins earn a contract until the end of the season off the back of Villa’s 5-5 draw.
