Did James Chester impress for Aston Villa on Saturday evening?
Aston Villa surrendered their unbeaten start to life under Steve Bruce following a 2-0 defeat at Leeds United on Saturday evening.
Goals from Kemar Roofe and Chris Wood in the final 20 minutes or so did the damage for Aston Villa, who had won four and drawn three of their seven Championship matches during the 55-year-old’s reign prior to kickoff.
Roofe ran beyond Tommy Elphick to nod in the opener, while a careless pass from Mile Jedinak led to the second and killer goal.
The Welshman, a £9 million summer signing from West Bromwich Albion, managed to win all three of his tackles as well as five duels.
In addition to that, Chester also registered seven ball recoveries and four interceptions – more than any other player on the pitch – in looked to be quite an impressive defensive performance from him.

He did perhaps put Jedinak in an awkward position for the error which led to Wood’s goal in the closing stages.
But on the whole, Chester – Aston Villa’s captain on the day, in spite of the fact that Elphick returned to the first XI – excelled for the most part.
