Aston Villa have been on a worrying slide of late.

Speaking to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing loss to Wolves at the weekend, Aston Villa defender James Chester described the hurt he has been feeling due to their recent poor run of form, as quoted by the Express & Star.

The 27-year-old moved to Villa Park from West Brom in the summer, for a fee believed to be in the region of £9 million, and has gone on to make 26 appearances for the Villans.

He and his teammates’ performance levels have dropped of late, and Villa are without a win in the past three games, which has seen them drop to 13th in the Championship table.

And despite a spike in performances and results following the appointment of Steve Bruce in October, there is a worry in and around the club that the ‘new manager effect’ has worn off at Villa Park.

Chester spoke to the media about his side’s displays of late, and highlighted how much losing is affecting him, in comparison to when he was at his previous clubs, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“A loss at this club feels worse here than at any other club I have been at because of the history, the money we have spent this year and the following we have got.”

And with 10 points now separating Villa and sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday, Bruce’s men will have to ensure that they embark on a run of wins, and soon, if they are to remain in contention for promotion to the Premier League.
