Aston Villa defender Ahmed Elmohamady is reportedly attracting the interest of Newcastle United.

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce could potentially be making phone calls to Aston Villa in these next few days with reports suggesting that he is keen on Ahmed Elmohamady.
The Sun previously claimed that Bruce wants to bring right-back Elmohamady to Newcastle after previously working with him at Villa and before that at Hull City.
If Elmohamady does make the switch from Villa Park to St James’ Park then there will be one forgotten man who would benefit from this transfer and that’s James Bree.
At this moment in time, he is third choice right-back at the newly-promoted side – behind Elmohamady himself, and January recruit, Fred Guilbert, who officially joined the club this summer.
If Bree wants to have any chance of reviving his stagnating Villa career then he needs chances with the senior team, but in this case, it needs to open up for him.

He was on-loan at relegated Ipswich Town last season, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Elmohamady does stay then he would have to make a temporary move away from the club once again in order to find regular football.
But if Dean Smith loses one of his experienced men at the back, he might not have enough time to react which would mean that Bree would become more important to his future plans.
It would be quite ironic if Bruce does sign Elmohamady, and from it, Bree benefits from it because it is under the former Villa manager that Bree’s career went backwards following his move to the Midlands club two years ago.
