The club are currently 11th in the Championship after picking up some form in the Championship.

Leeds United coach James Beattie has been commenting on the club’s Premier League ambitions in conversation with TV Yorkshire.

Leeds United have been in the Football League for some time now. They remain one of the biggest clubs in England with a massive and loyal fanbase but have struggled to find their way back to the top-flight amid plenty of off-field problems.

This summer Garry Monk’s appointment had many Leeds fans excited at a potential push for promotion this term. After a slow start, things are now picking up and Leeds fans can begin to believe.

Beattie though made it clear that no team deserves to be in the Premier League on their name alone and is hopeful that the work he, Monk and the rest of the coaching staff are doing can bring back the glory days.

He told TV Yorkshire:

“I think if we continue to work in the way that we do then hopefully progression will be coming more and more.

“We obviously need the support of everybody at the club. The fanbase is immense. Hopefully we can bring the good times back.

“But it’s a work in progress. We believe in the process.

“People say the club should be in the Premier League. The club should be where it is. The club is where it is. If we can get the club back up to where people think it should be then hopefully we are doing the right things to be able to do that.”

Next up for Leeds, after the international break, is a trip to Derby County in the Championship this Saturday.

The Rams have their fair share of off-field issues at present and are currently 20th in the Championship table.

Leeds fans will be hoping the club can extend their recent record to six wins in seven at the iPro Stadium.
