Chris Wood is Leeds United’s highest goalscorer this season.
Speaking to LUTV, Leeds United’s first-team coach James Beattie has paid tribute to Chris Wood’s goalscoring form so far this season.
The 24-year-old has netted 11 times in all competitions for Leeds as Garry Monk’s side sit sixth in the Championship.
The big New Zealand striker came under scrutiny from United fans earlier in the season, and one section of the Elland Road support jeered him back in August

But the former Leicester City man has responded superbly and he is now one of Monk’s most important players.
Beattie, who joined up with Monk at Leeds during the summer, knows a thing or two about scoring goals, having had an excellent Premier League career, and the 38-year-old has been impressed by what Wood has achieved so far this season.

He told LUTV: “He’s done great and to get 10 goals before Christmas is brilliant, but now the next challenge for him is to get the next milestone, whatever his personal target is.
“He’s done brilliant. He’s got every attribute to be a top striker and I think he’s realised that he’s in a good team.”
Wood’s stock among Leeds fans would grow much higher if he were to lead United to a victory over Newcastle after the international break.
The top-of-the-table Magpies, who have won their last seven Championship matches, visit Elland Road on November 20 in what is probably the Whites’ biggest test of the season, but the way things are going, few would be surprised to see a home win.
