Leeds United’s Gaetano Berardi has been in very impressive form over recent weeks.
James Beattie says that he has forgiven Gaetano Berardi for the terrible tackle the Swiss defender committed on him on his Leeds United debut.
Berardi was sent off on his first appearance for Leeds after tackling Beattie, who was then playing for Accrington Stanley, at waist height.
At the time Beattie, who is now a first-team coach at Elland Road, admits that he thought the challenge was a very poor one.
However, after working with the full-back throughout the season, Beattie now understands that Berardi’s aggression is a key part of his game.
Berardi has impressed at Leeds in recent weeks, with his performances at left-back.
Berardi has been forced to cover for Charlie Taylor on the left hand side of defence, and has coped well in an unfamiliar position.
Berardi kept his place in Leeds’ team for their last match against Birmingham City, which they won 3-1, despite Taylor being fit for the contest.
Leeds are next in action later this evening, when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.
