Liverpool’s pre-season preparations see them head off to Austria on Monday – but James Balagizi won’t be making the trip.

The Reds fly off to an intense training camp tomorrow, and Jurgen Klopp will be looking for his young players to really push the senior figures.

The likes of Jake Cain, Leighton Clarkson, Marcelo Pitaluga, Harvey Davies, Billy Koumetio, Owen Beck, Kaide Gordon, Mateusz Musialowski, Tyler Morton and Conor Bradley have all been named as part of the squad heading to Austria.

Fans did though notice that James Balagizi wasn’t named in the squad, leaving many to wonder just why Klopp wasn’t taking him to Austria.

The former Manchester City talent has been tipped for big things at Liverpool and enjoyed a superb campaign last season.

Balagizi, 17, racked up three goals and 10 assists in 23 games last season, whilst he has also established himself as an England Under-18 international.

The rangy midfielder will surely be on Klopp’s radar as a real talent for the future, but it’s an injury keeping him out of the pre-season trip.

Balagizi has taken to Twitter to post a short clip of himself with his left arm in cast, claiming that he will be back as soon as possible having sadly missed out on the flight to Austria.
