Newcastle United new boy Jamal Lewis has told the club’s official website that he admires Liverpool duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.
The Magpies tied up the signing of Lewis earlier this week, landing the left back from Norwich City in a £15million deal.
Lewis, 22, impressed in the Premier League last season despite Norwich suffering relegation, and has now made an instant return to the top flight.
The Northern Ireland international will now have a chance to solve one of Newcastle’s problem positions, as the likes of Antonio Barreca, Jetro Willems and Danny Rose have failed to earn permanent moves in recent times.
Newcastle will certainly feel that they have landed a real coup, given that Liverpool wanted to sign Lewis last month.
The Reds had a £10million bid rejected, and instead signed Kostas Tsimikas, allowing Newcastle to end up landing Lewis.
Now, Lewis has admitted that he looks up to two full backs, and he could have been playing with them had he made the move to Anfield.

Lewis praised Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, suggesting that they are really setting the standard for modern-day full backs with their aggression and attacking quality.
“There are great examples – the two would be from Liverpool, Andrew Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold,” said Lewis. “They are really setting the standard right now with how they play and the aggression and enthusiasm to get forward.
“You see how vital they are for their team.It has helped to highlight how important they are. They are really setting the standards,” he added.
