Newcastle United are doing pretty well in the Championship so far.

Jamaal Lascelles has told The Chronicle that none of his Newcastle United team-mates are using the club as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.
Newcastle, as a football club, have less appeal now than they did 12 months ago following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

In spite of their demotion, the Magpies remain a huge club and their promotion bid is looking very decent at the moment.
Tuesday’s results saw United slip to seventh in the Championship table, but Rafael Benitez’s side, who host Norwich tonight, will move back to third by beating the Canaries for what would be their sixth win in 10 second-tier outings this season.
Their form is not that surprising, given that Benitez welcomed a host of talent into his ranks during the summer, and club-captain Lascelles says that nobody signed up for the proejct with the intention of using the Magpies as a stop-gap to something better.

“Every single player – even those not playing – want to get promoted,” he told The Chronicle. “They have not come here just to come to Newcastle to move.
“Newcastle is a massive club with massive history and we know what we have to do to get back up.That’s what we have come here to do. Rafa has brought in players who will help us.
“He won’t bring in players that are good but have no work-rate. Everybody has to have that work-rate. Of course we have got talent with it.”
The comments will please Newcastle fans. If they win promotion, the last thing they would want to see is half their squad jump ship in the event that bigger clubs came knocking for their signatures next summer.
