Everton are said to be readying a £30 million bid for Newcastle’s Jamaal Lascelles.

Everton are said to be keen on bringing in Newcastle skipper Jamaal Lascelles this summer, according to reports from The Sun, as Marco Silva begins moulding his squad ahead of the new season.
The English defender has a hefty price tag on his head at £30 million, but Everton’s Silva is seemingly undeterred, as he searches for a long-term partner for ex-Manchester United man Michael Keane – while also said to be expressing interest in Charlton starlet Ezri Konsa (The Sun).
Silva has been appointed at Goodison Park to bring attacking and progressive football back to the club, with the Everton owners targeting a return to Champions League (or at least European) football in the near future.

But quality defensive additions are important to achieve this goal, and the Newcastle skipper has emerged as an impressive defender over the last two seasons under Rafa Benitez.
Lascelles’ leadership qualities would instantly galvanise some of the younger Everton defenders, with Keane once touted as a future England international. Across town, Virgil van Dijk has shown how a single defensive addition can settle a whole side, and 24-year-old Lascelles could very well have a similar effect for Everton. Lascelles could very well end up a future Everton captain.
