Jamaal Lascelles has played 13 times for Newcastle United so far this season.

Jamaal Lascelles has told the Chronicle that he was urging his Newcastle United teammates to stay focussed ahead of their recent match against Rotherham United.
Lascelles has been named as Newcastle captain, despite only being 22-years-old, after impressing with his leadership skills.
And the young defender has already been trying to ensure his teammates do not become complacent, after their impressive start to the campaign.

“I respect this league massively and I was telling the boys before the Rotherham game we can’t get complacent,” Lascelles said.
“We had to prepare for Rotherham the same way we do for Norwich and Villa and all the big teams.
“In the Championship it is all about whoever turns up on the day.
“Thankfully, we have been turning up.
“We have to keep it that way and not let things slip.”

Lascelles warning obviously had the desired impact, as Newcastle overcame Rotherham United 1-0 in their last match before the international break.
That was the Magpies’ seventh win in their last nine games, and they are starting to show exactly why they were so heavily fancied for promotion before the season started.
Newcastle are now in third place in the Championship table, and sit just three points behind league leaders Huddersfield Town.
Newcastle are next in action at the weekend, when they face play off chasing Brentford at St. James’ Park.
