Newcastle United’s front three produced their best performance of the season over the weekend without scoring.

Jamaal Lascelles has shared that Newcastle trio Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton and Miguel Almiron have been firing in training by ‘banging in goals, left, right and centre’ as he stated that it’s just a matter of time before fans see on the pitch.

Newcastle produced their best attacking display over the weekend when they put three past West Ham United, but none of Steve Bruce’s forward line were able to put the ball into the back of the net.

But that didn’t tell the story because they were outstanding on the counter, especially Saint-Maximin, who should have scored at the London Stadium.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (06/11/19), Lascelles stated that it’s a case of one of Newcastle’s forward line ‘breaking the ice’ before they can start producing the goods on a regular basis.

“I think once one of them gets that goal, it’ll just break the ice and then they can start expressing themselves more,” Lascelles told Sky Sports. “The three of them are always banging in goals, left, right and centre in training. They like to express themselves, so I just think it’s about getting past that first hurdle.

“You have always got the big man Andy [Carroll] on the bench. When Dwight’s back fully fit, we have an exciting team and I think we are in a good position now. Hopefully, we can get another win before the international break and then we’ll be really confident.”

That win against West Ham would have provided Newcastle fans with a lot of hope that they can get something out of this season.

There was a lot of doom and gloom around St James’ Park at the start of the campaign, and whilst nothing much has changed yet, there are positive signs.

But, like always, one game can change everything and at the weekend, Newcastle will be hoping to put three more points on the board when they take on Bournemouth.
