Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles has suggested on social networking site Twitter that his injury is not too serious.
Lascelles suffered an ankle injury during Newcastle’s defeat to Bournemouth at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The 23-year-old defender was substituted in the 55th minute and, according to The Shields Gazette, had to leave the stadium on crutches.
The former England Under-21 international has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment at the Magpies’ loss to the Cherries.
Lascelles has revealed that he will undergo a scan on Monday, and hopes that his injury is not too bad.
Lascelles is one of the best players in the current Newcastle team and is a leader at the back.
Newcastle fans will hope that the injury the former Nottingham Forest star suffered against Bournemouth is not too serious.
Rafael Benitez’s side’s recent performances and results have not been great, but the Magpies should still be aiming to finish in the top 10 of the Premier League this season.
