Everton earned a narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night.

Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles described himself as “disappointed” on Twitter after the Toon were unable to continue their excellent recent form against Everton on Monday night.
Theo Walcott scored the only goal of the game to earn the Toffees a 1-0 win and all three points, as he capitalised on a deep Yannick Bolasie cross to control and fire into the back of the net.

The Toon had won their four previous Premier League outings, picking up 12 points from a possible 12 with wins against Southampton, Huddersfield, Leicester and then an excellent 2-1 win over Arsenal.
Skipper Lascelles, whose form has even prompted talk of an England World Cup call-up, posted on Twitter after the match to express his frustration but to urge fans to look ahead to Saturday’s clash against rock-bottom West Bromwich Albion.
Lascelles, 24, has thrived with the burden of the captain’s armband this season, impressing at the back to help a relegation-threatened Newcastle keep eight clean sheets in 29 league games. He has also chipped in with three goals.
Newcastle fans replied to the 6ft 2in ace on Twitter, with the majority applauding the efforts of their captain as he continues to impress in Rafa Benitez’s side.
One fan even tried to convince the former Nottingham Forest star to stay on Tyneside, posting “don’t leave us” despite Lascelles’ form reportedly interesting Premier League giants Chelsea.
