Jamaal Lascelles is an important player for Newcastle United at the moment.

Lascelles made some strong comments back in April 2016 following Newcastle’s defeat to Southampton in the Premier League.
The Magpies’ 3-1 loss at the hands of the Saints away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium left Rafael Benitez’s side in deep relegation trouble.
After the match, defender Lascelles stated that the team need to show more heart, desire and character, as quoted by BBC Sport.

Newcastle eventually got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, but the Magpies won automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of last season.
The 23-year-old former Nottingham Forest defender has revealed that that was the turning point for him.

“It was definitely a turning point for me because before that I was in and out of the team,” The Chronicle quotes Lascelles as saying about the match against Southampton.
“I was on the bench, coming on and against Southampton I said what I had to say. After that we went on a pretty good run and we were quite unlucky not to stay up.”
Lascelles joined Newcastle from Forest in the summer of 2014 and spent the 2014-15 campaign on loan at the City Ground.
